OSManalytic
===========

This code is useful to run analysis related to a specific event on OpenStreetMap data.  

REQUIREMENTS
------------

Software
^^^^^^^^
* osmium http://osmcode.org/osmium-tool/
* PostgreSQL
* PostGIS
* osm2pgsql http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Osm2pgsql
* Python > 3.0

Hardware
^^^^^^^^
* > 100 GB Hard disk (Depending on the interessed area)
* > 4 GB RAM (Depending on the interessed area)

DATA PREPARATION
----------------

1) Download the full planet from http://planet.openstreetmap.org/pbf/full-history/history-latest.osm.pbf
2) Cut with osmium the the full file using one of the following command ::

	# using bounding box
	osmium extract --with-history --bbox LEFT,BOTTOM,RIGHT,TOP history-latest.osm.pbf --output YOURAREA.osh.pbf
	# using geojson or poly file
	osmium extract --with-history --polygon GEOJSON history-latest.osm.pbf --output YOURAREA.osh.pbf

3) If you want you can filter the previous output according one or two timestamp with the following command,
   otherwise pass to the next step ::
   
        # cut for the entire 2016
        osmium time-filter YOURAREA.osm.pbf MINTIME MAXTIME --output YOURAREA_2016.osh.pbf

4) Create a new PostgreSQL/PostGIS database

	# create database
	createdb osmananalytic
	psql -c "CREATE EXTENSION postgis; CREATE EXTENSION hstore" osmananalytic
	
   
5) Import the last file using osm2pgsql, use the style file provided with this code ::

	# -j to store all the tags in hstore column
	# -x to add extra attribute into tables
	# -S use the style
	# -C set the RAM to use for cache (bigger value is faster) 
        # DON'T USE -s FLAG OTHERWISE YOU WILL GET AND ERROR
	osm2pgsql -j -x -S osmanalytic.style -C 2000 YOUR.osh
