The Hands On Technology (HOT) website source code

The repository at https://github.com/jcerullo/HOTsource contains the latest source code required to implement the H.O.T. website from a local webserver.

Installation is accomplished by adding a new sub-directory (e.g. HOT) into the existing directory containing your webserver source code (e.g. for the apache webserver the source code is usually found in the /var/www/html directory), and then adding the contents of the repository into the new sub-directory.

The end result of a standard apache installation is that the contents of the repository is loaded to a directory named /var/www/html/HOT. The HOT website is then executed from a browser with URL address https://yourdomain/HOT.

To update the HOT source code in the Home Assistant add-on, simply copy the contents of the repository to /share/htdocs. Neither the HOT add-on nor home assistant require a restart after updating the source code.

HOT Reference Library (Extentions to the Official HOT Website)

The HOT Reference Library is a web-based application to help members find club-related information (persons, places and things).

Features:

  1. You can remove yourself from the Reference Library System and it has no effect on your HOT membership or Discussion Group participation.
  2. The system is initialized with some of the information provided in the new member questionnaire, which may or may not be currently accurate.
  3. Members have total control over the data stored in the System. So, for purposes of information search, members can change or delete their name, email address, village, 3D printers, or any other information that has been collected or might be collected in the future.
  4. A member is initially identified in the Search System with the email address originally entered in the new member questionnaire. A member is allowed to change the email address used by the Search System and it has no effect on any Discussion Group email addresses.
  5. The Reference Library is typically hosted on a Raspberry Pi with latest raspian OS running a LAMP stack.
