New Features in v1.4.1:

  • Fixed a constant in ECAPE calculations to more accurately set the entrainment rate.

New Features in v1.4.0:

  • Irreversible Adiabatic and Entraining Ascent are now plotted, and convective parameters can be computed using these parcels instead of the traditional Pseudoadiabatic Non-Entraining parcel. Irreversible Adiabatic Ascent is used by default. Irrev. Adiab. ascent and Pseudoadiabatic ascent can be toggled by pressing I while viewing a sounding, and whether the Entraining or Non-Entraining parcel is focused can be toggled by pressing E.

This sounding viewer contains integration with both the IGRA2 database and the SPC Experimental Soundings page as well as an API to use the program as part of your own project.

For non-programmers, this program includes a graphical interface that will help you easily view any sounding chart from any station on any date, as long as it is in NOAA's archive.
