Name

Explanation of Name

fomes is a medical Latin word that means "tinder, or fuel" first used by Girolam Fracastoro to describe inanimate objects that were spreading infectious diseases in the 16th century (preceding germ theory by 300+ years). In many ways, an agent-based stochastic model follows Fracastoro's framework closely, as "essential seeds of the contagion".

⚠️ This project is under active development. As a result, parameter names and behaviors as well as output file formats may change. Releases will be noted in the "News" with any lack of backwards compatibility indicated by a full version number change.


‼️ We welcome contributions and collaboration. We will be following Github's Community Standards and will hold all contributors to this standard by promoting respect for all coding levels and backgrounds.
