Change the documentation to markdown?

Now we have all documentation in json slots. This works well for storing and accessing data, but is less good to read the documentation and edit the documentation, say on github.

An alternative would be to create a md template for the documentation and store the md file instead. That would be easy to render on a webpage as well as on github, and easy to do small quick additions in the documentation.
